The RKB Foundation is a rights-based, non-governmental organization dedicated to advancing dignity, mobility, and equal opportunity for Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) in Kenya. Rooted in lived experience and anchored in the Constitution of Kenya (2010) and the Persons with Disabilities Act No. 4 of 2025, we work to dismantle systemic, legal, and social barriers that exclude PWDs from full participation in society. We partner with corporates, institutions, county and national governments to transform workplaces, learning institutions, and public spaces into inclusive, accessible, and high-performing environments. Our work is guided by seven strategic pillars that move disability inclusion from charity to justice, and from policy to practice. RKB’s seven pillars guide our holistic approach to creating inclusive, accessible, and high-performing workplaces.
A society where persons with disabilities are empowered, skilled, and actively shaping economic, social, and civic life through inclusive systems, accessible environments, and equitable opportunities.
To advance disability inclusion through a holistic, rights-based approach that strengthens institutions, empowers communities, and partners with public and private sectors to promote accessibility, equity, and sustainable participation for Persons with Disabilities.
The Future is Bright
— Empowering Inclusion
At RKB Foundation, our impact is driven by seven strategic pillars that respond directly to the lived realities of Persons with Disabilities. Each pillar targets a critical system — education, infrastructure, policy, technology, and the economy — ensuring inclusion is not an isolated intervention, but a coordinated, sustainable transformation.
Expand inclusive education pathways from primary to higher learning by piloting accessible curricula, strengthening teacher capacity, and linking learners with disabilities to scholarships, mentorship, talent development, and career pathways.
Advocate for barrier-free built environments by conducting professional accessibility audits and promoting Universal Design standards across schools, workplaces, health facilities, and public institutions.
Create sustainable career pathways through inclusive recruitment frameworks, internships, mentorship, and partnerships that dismantle hiring bias and promote economic dignity for Persons with Disabilities.
Influence and monitor the implementation of the Persons with Disabilities Act (2025) while strengthening accountability, compliance, and disability-responsive governance at national and county levels.
Equip Persons with Disabilities, caregivers, and institutions with certified vocational, professional, and workplace inclusion skills that promote productivity, independence, and long-term self-reliance.
Bridge the digital divide through access to clinically appropriate assistive devices, accessible digital tools, and digital literacy programs that enable full participation in technology-driven environments.
Generate rigorous data and documentation to inform policy, guide inclusive investments, strengthen accountability, and ensure disability inclusion efforts are driven by lived realities and measurable impact.
Our growing footprint reflects a deliberate shift from charity-based outreach to rights-based, systems-driven impact across education, employment, technology, and community inclusion.
